PERSONAL WORK & FILM
It all goes back to film, for me and my journey. I began with a holga medium format camera, a cheap plastic camera that gave me light leaks and unfocused images and terribly expensive development. But I loved every blooming second of working with it. This was over 20 years ago. So in my personal work, I return to film as a way of feeling more tangibly connected to the medium, sometimes working with layering after development with encaustic and resin and paint. I just began developing my own film at home, a process of surprise, awe and sometimes frustration. Not all these images are film, but they are all tangibly personal, and part of the whole.
